Mentally United is a grassroots 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization based in Colorado that harnesses the power of creativity in its commitment to promoting mental wellness, fostering community connections, and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. Our mission is to inspire individuals to embark on their journey towards mental wellness and spiritual growth, planting seeds for a future where mental wellness is destigmatized, accessible, and where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.

At Mentally United, our mission is to make mental wellness resources, education, and support accessible to everyone—regardless of background, identity, beliefs, or life experience. We empower individuals to prioritize their mental health, destigmatize mental health conversations, and foster resilient, connected communities.

Muhammad Zeeshan

Executive Director

Muhammad Zeeshan, also known as Zee, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in Colorado and the Founder and Executive Director of Mentally United. With over eight years of experience in media production, leadership, and counseling, Zee combines his passion for mental health advocacy with a creative approach to building stronger communities.

Fluent in English and Urdu, Zeeshan holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh, graduating with a 3.90 GPA. His professional journey includes early childhood therapy, school-based mental health counseling, and psychosocial rehabilitation for children and young adults. He specializes in addressing early childhood challenges, supporting families, and breaking cycles of trauma while fostering resilience and meaningful connections.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Zeeshan has an impressive background in digital media and marketing. He has produced award-winning television content, led community-focused campaigns, and managed branding initiatives. His innovative approach to mental health advocacy earned him a nomination for the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Social Impact in 2023.

Zee’s vision for Mentally United reflects his lifelong mission: to empower individuals to prioritize their mental well-being, foster resilience, and create compassionate, connected communities.

Naomi Tegybelu

President

Naomi Tegybelu is a passionate advocate for mental health and community connection, bringing her expertise in marketing, digital media, and public relations to her work. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, International Business, and Business Administration from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

 

Currently, Naomi serves as a School Certifying Official at the University of Colorado Denver, supporting veteran students in accessing educational benefits while fostering their academic success. Her professional journey also includes contributions to digital platforms such as The Weekly Armchair and United TV on YouTube, where she engages diverse audiences with dynamic and creative content.

 

Fluent in Amharic and English, Naomi’s career spans roles in marketing, event coordination, and organizational leadership. She has held positions with the American Marketing Association (AMA), Delta Phi Epsilon, and Omicron Delta Kappa, gaining valuable experience in managing campaigns, building communities, and driving impact through storytelling. Her dedication to mental wellness advocacy is evident in her innovative approach to fostering dialogue and creating meaningful connections.

 

Naomi envisions a world where mental health is prioritized, and communities thrive through compassion and collaboration. Her work reflects a commitment to empowering individuals with resources and opportunities that inspire personal growth and collective well-being.

Maria Barinova

Chief People Officer

Maria Barinova, affectionately known as Masha, is a dedicated mental health advocate with a rich and diverse background. Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, she now resides in Seattle, Washington. Maria earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
 

Fluent in Russian and English serves as a Resident Director at the University of Washington, where she oversees residential life programs and supports student well-being. In addition, she practices as a therapist at Sequim Counseling, providing mental health services to a diverse clientele.
 

Maria's professional experience includes working as a rehabilitation practitioner with adults living with PTSD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, helping them develop executive functioning skills to lead fulfilling lives. Her commitment to community engagement is evident through her volunteer roles with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Friendship Circle, and Jewish Family Services. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys reading, gaming, practicing martial arts, and connecting with her local Jewish community.
 

She envisions a world where mental health care is accessible to all and communities thrive on compassion and understanding. As a key member of Mentally United’s executive board, Maria’s dedication to advocacy and empowerment drives the organization’s mission to destigmatize mental health and foster stronger, more connected communities.

Katherine Martinez

Chief Media Officer

Katherine Martinez is a dynamic leader with a passion for event planning, marketing, and fostering community connections. Based in Miami, Florida, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Florida International University, graduating with an impressive 3.85 GPA. She also holds certifications in Social Media Marketing and Health and Fitness Marketing, further enhancing her expertise.

 

Currently, Katherine serves as an Events & Development Coordinator at the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where she organizes impactful events that unite communities and advance the organization’s mission. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is deeply committed to making mental health resources accessible to diverse audiences.

 

As the co-founder of Rehearse the Verse, a faith-based initiative, Katherine encourages individuals to engage with the Bible, deepen their relationship with God, and foster connections through shared faith. Guided by her spirituality, she strives to inspire others to find strength, purpose, and belonging through their faith journeys.

 

As Chief Media Director and a key member of Mentally United’s executive board, Katherine manages and hosts events in Florida, creating opportunities for learning, connection, and healing. A passionate ukulele player, she brings creativity and authenticity to her work. Serving as the host and face of Mentally United’s campaign videos, Katherine connects with audiences nationwide, delivering messages of hope, resilience, and empowerment. Her vision is to break the stigma surrounding mental health, empower individuals through innovative outreach, and foster a culture rooted in compassion, faith, and connection.
